Last month, Manchester United sent scouts to watch Helland play against Viking Stavanger, where he showcased his skills as a 6ft 5in centre-half.
Bayern Munich also had their scouts watching Helland a week ago, when he played against KFUM.
According to Norwegian sources, Helland has great potential and could become Norway's greatest ever centre-back.
Manchester United has a history of signing talented Norwegian defenders, including Ronny Johnsen and Henning Berg, who both went on to win the Champions League with the team.
