Mislintat recommended Glasner to the Ajax board, but they were hesitant to hire a foreign coach. Instead, they chose Maurice Steijn, who was working at Sparta Rotterdam at the time.
However, Steijn's tenure at Ajax was short-lived, as he left the club in October. Glasner, on the other hand, went on to become the manager of Crystal Palace, leading the team to FA Cup glory last season.
