The match saw Chelsea take the lead in the 14th minute with a goal from Moises Caicedo, before Gakpo equalized just after the hour mark. However, Chelsea scored a winning goal in the 95th minute, securing a dramatic victory.
Liverpool has now suffered three consecutive defeats across all competitions. Gakpo acknowledged that the loss was particularly difficult to accept, given the team's performance.
When speaking to Sky Sports, Gakpo said, "It's difficult (to take). I think we played against a really good team. We scored an amazing goal in the first half, but I think it was level. In the second half, we fought hard for the equalizer, and we played a little better than them, but they were still a threat on the counter."
Gakpo also addressed the team's recent poor form, saying, "I don't want to say we're low on confidence. I understand what you mean. At this time, things aren't going our way. Maybe five games ago, they were. This is part of football. We have to take it on our chests and keep on fighting. We have to keep pushing."
Gakpo emphasized that the team is aware of their situation and knows what to do to get back on track. He stated, "We know that as players. We are very much aware of the situation. We know what to do, which is going back to the winning ways."
