Guardiola has made significant changes to the team over the past two transfer windows, with several long-serving players departing, including Kevin De Bruyne, Ilkay Gundogan, and Ederson.
Against Arsenal on Sunday, Guardiola employed a defensive approach, which ultimately resulted in a 1-1 draw and further ground lost to Premier League leaders Liverpool.
At a press conference ahead of Manchester City's League Cup match against Huddersfield, Guardiola reflected on the team's performance.
"I'm really proud of this fight," he said. "We've recovered many things that last season we missed. We have an incredible spirit."
Guardiola acknowledged that the team may not be able to maintain this level of play throughout the season, but praised the quality of their opponents, Arsenal.
He emphasized the importance of celebrating a point against a strong team like Arsenal, and highlighted the progress the team has made since their 3-0 win over Manchester United.
"We can do better, we will do it," he said. "We'll make a few adjustments and decisions to improve our game. We'll also learn to play more with our opponents."
Guardiola likened the team's approach to a parent caring for their child, emphasizing the need to nurture and protect their spirit.
Manchester City are currently ninth in the Premier League, eight points behind champions Liverpool, but have won the League Cup four times under Guardiola's leadership.
