Ghisolfi has a wealth of experience in the sporting director role, having previously worked at Nice and Lens. He also has a connection with Sunderland manager Roger Le Bris, as they previously worked together at Lorient.
During his time at Lorient, Ghisolfi held the position of assistant coach for the first team, while Le Bris managed the reserves. This shared experience could be an advantage for Sunderland in their decision to appoint Ghisolfi.
It's worth noting that Ghisolfi played a role in signing Enzo Le Fee for Roma last summer. Le Fee later joined Sunderland on loan and eventually signed a permanent deal with the club.
