Overy, who has qualifications in England, Australia, and Scotland, signed with the team last year after leaving a non-league football club in Australia, where he started his professional career with Perth Glory.
However, an injury at the beginning of the season kept Overy from participating until recently.
United's U18 coach Adam Lawrence said it was challenging for Overy to adjust to the team after moving from Australia, but praised his positive attitude throughout his recovery.
"James is a great player and a wonderful person," Lawrence said. "He's shown a lot of determination and energy, and it's fantastic to see him back on the field playing again."
