During a recent press conference, Amorim was asked about the team's readiness for European competition after their narrow loss to Tottenham in the Europa League final. He acknowledged that the team was not prepared to handle the demands of playing in both the Champions League and the Premier League.
"It's a normal thing that happens in other clubs," Amorim said. "I think we were not prepared to play Europe; that is my feeling, to have strong games in the Champions League and then play Premier League. We need time to develop as a team."
Amorim also emphasized the importance of giving the team time to prepare for each game, citing the competitive nature of the Premier League and the need to build a strong foundation before moving forward.
In terms of the current season, Amorim has expressed his intention to rotate the squad and give players a chance to rest and recover. Despite investing heavily in new signings, no United player has scored this season, and Grimsby's League Two status makes them an attractive opponent for United's Carabao Cup tie.
